In endorsing the issues set out in the report Members identified further omissions from the Investment Plan, namely the improvements to the A21 and the A25/M25/M26 junction improvements, and emphasised the need for infrastructure improvements to be implemented at the earliest opportunity.
RECOMMENDED: That
(i) the Borough Council indicate its general support for the policies of the South East Plan with the exception of the specific points raised in paragraphs 1.2.6 and 1.2.7 of the report, supplemented by reference to the improvements to the A21. the M2,5./M26 junction improvements and the need for infrastructure improvements to be implemented at the earliest opportunity; and
(2) the above be lodged as formal representations on the submitted document.

Part 1- Public Executive Non Key Decisions 1 SOUTH EAST PLAN
Summary This report provides an update on progress made by the South East England Regional Assembly in the production of the South East Plan. It also seeks endorsement for representations to be made on behalf of the Council in respect of Part 2 of the South East Plan which deals with sub-regional issues including District level housing provision figures and is currently the subject of public consultation. 1.4.3 In the Rest of Kent region, the importance of improvements to the Medway Valley line is again highlighted and the role and improvement of the A228 as a strategic route including the Colts Hill bypass is highlighted. The improvement of the M25/M26 junction to remove unsuitable traffic from the A25 and various sections of the A21 improvements are also listed as critical transport projects.
